MEET EMILY

my story

Like other special needs parents I wear many hats.

I am a mother of three girls whose names all begin with the letter G. I am a Physical Therapist by trade with over 20 years of experience. My special needs parenting journey began when my middle daughter, G2, began having seizures at age 7. Five years and three brain surgeries later we are living every day in the special needs world.

My hope for this blog is that I can share with you not only the perspective I have gained as a special needs parent, but the resources I that have worked for me in getting through life as a special needs parent.

It truly takes a village to raise a special needs child, and accepting help along the way is the only way we will all thrive. I am still learning and gaining perspective every day, and I suspect I this will never end, as parenting never does.

MY DAY-TO-DAY LOOKS LIKE

Mini-van kids taxi service, HIIT workouts, juggling work, therapy appointments, homework, and feeding my family healthy meals...

Slow mornings with a good cup of coffee, time outside, podcasts, and great books.

THE MARINOS

Based in PIttsburgh, our family of five has dealt with epilepsy and its challenges since 2014.

We have three girls, all with Italian first names starting with the letter "G'. Living with epilepsy and then the effects of brain surgery has taken its toll on our entire family. We all have battle scars, some physical and others internal. We will never view the world the same again as we now all have a different perspective on what matters in life. We don't sweat the small stuff...
after having been through three brain surgeries the everyday drama that happens at work or school suddenly doesn't seem to matter any more.

We LOVE: Family Movie Night & Snuggles by the fire, walking our Dog Leonardo DogVinci, Swimming, and a Good Pizza
